Tour De Yorkshire Signs Up Record Tour Maker Volunteers
World-class cycling road race, The Tour de Yorkshire, has successfully signed up the record number of Tour Maker volunteers it needs for this year. 1800 people have now completed training and received kit, which includes a cap, waterproof coat, hi-vis and kit bag, including a team of 40 volunteers offering hands-on help from sponsors Sky Betting & Gaming.
The fast-growth tech company based in Leeds are supporting the event with branded kit for every Tour Maker as part of a three-year sponsorship deal as official Tour Maker champion.
Richard Flint, Sky Betting & Gaming’s CEO, said, “We have so many cycling fans within the business and this partnership allows our people to get involved behind the scenes in an event which showcases both Yorkshire and our unbridled passion for sport.”
Two thirds of Tour Makers are volunteers who have returned year on year and there has been an increase in the number of areas from which volunteers have offered their time, as well as a larger number of university students now involved.
Teams of Tour Makers are located in the key towns and villages along the route to welcome and safeguard the millions of fans at cycling’s most heavily spectated global event.
Sky Betting & Gaming will also have an activity zone in the Tour Village, which will be open to the public in the run up to and during the Tour de Yorkshire in Millennium Square between the 28th April and Sunday 6th May.
"Working at Sky Betting & Gaming is great, there's a real positive energy about the place, I like the fact that it's really transparent and the strategy is clear."
